Rural development minister received by Greek President
Rural Development and Food Minister George Karasmanis on Tuesday met with Greek President Karolos Papoulias at the Presidential Mansion and expressed his optimism regarding the future of Greek agriculture.
“It got through during the difficult years that the country went through; and now it can look to the future with greater optimism,” Karasmanis said, adding that there has been very good preparation, so that everything was ready for anyone wanting to invest in the primary sector in the coming year. “Those who believe that the agricultural sector can and should be a key driver of growth for the Greek economy and society will not be proven wrong,” he said.
“It has potential; I believe that,” Papoulias said.
The minister noted that the EU funds amount to 20 billion euros, 14 billion of which are direct payments to the producers and the remaining six billion will be allocated to investments.
