Greece is facing a double pandemic, that of coronavirus and the other of high prices and greater inequality, SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance leader Alexis Tsipras said on Thursday, speaking from Kozani in NW Greece.

The main opposition leader criticized the government for both aspects and said "these are not results of a temporary confluence that was inevitable, they are results of choices or mistakes or omissions of the Mitsotakis government."

In terms of the pandemic, Tsipras said that Greece has 150 people on ventilators outside of intensive care units. "This happens nowehere else" in Europe, he said, while on higher living expenses he added that most households and industries "run out of money in the third week of the month" after payday as obligations continue to add up. "For this double trial, the Mitsotakis government is absolutely and largely responsible," Tsipras claimed.
