Mandra fire restricted to scattered fire pockets, says Fire Brigade
The wildfire that broke out in the west Attica municipality of Mandra-Idilia late afternoon Tuesday has been restricted to scattered fire pockets, said the Fire Brigade on Tuesday evening.
It took some 50 firefighters with 22 fire engines, 2 ground teams, 5 water-dowsing aircraft and 3 helicopters to put out the fire.
An evacuation order had earlier been sent out to residents in the Neos Pontos and Nea Zoi housing settlements at the west Attica municipality of Mandra-Idilia early on Tuesday evening due to a wildfire unfolding in their region.
Road traffic was also closed off in the following roads in Mandra:
- Elefsina-Thivon from Agia Sotira towards Mandra
- Elefsina-Thivon from Agias Annis church towards Mandra
- Anonymous Road from the Pontic settlement towards Mandra
