Kikilias meets with Deputy PM Al-Wazir on sidelines of 'TransMEA' conference in Cairo

Minister of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy Vassilis Kikilias met in Cairo with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport of Egypt Kamel Al-Wazir on Monday, on the sidelines of the International Conference "TransMEA 2025".

According to a statement, the meeting was held in the presence of Greek Ambassador to Egypt Nikolaos Papageorgiou in a very cordial climate, with Kikilias congratulating Al-Wazir for his work in Egypt's infrastructure and the excellent organization of the conference.

Particular reference was made to the long-term presence of Greek shipping and entrepreneurship in the Egyptian economy, which proves the depth of the two countries' relations. Also underlined was Greek shipping as a reliable energy transport means globally, and the role of the Suez Canal, where Greek companies are investing in fighting pollution, and the ongoing process of connectling the power grids of Egypt and Greece.

At the conference, Kikilias is expected to participate in a panel discussion with participating ministers from countries of the Middle East and the Eastern Mediterranean, while he is also scheduled to meet with Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi, among others, on the conference sidelines.
