Government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis referred to the severe bad weather that swept Greece between Wednesday afternoon until late evening, in his briefing for political reporters on Thursday.

“The state remains on alert over how the severe weather will unfold, especially in the Northern Aegean Region, the Dodecanese, and the Cyclades,” he added.

He noted that “unfortunately, two of our fellow citizens — a woman in Ano Glyfada and a man in Astros Kynourias — lost their lives. We express our sincere condolences to their families.”

Moving on to the next topic, Marinakis stated that 10 key legislative initiatives and 30 major reforms were included in the Unified Government Policy Plan for 2026, a milestone year for the completion of the government’s work in its second term. At this point, he specifically referred to the 10 main legislative initiatives, which include, among others, legislation for a state that is more friendly toward citizens and economic activity, the establishment of a new Lyceum and National Diploma, a new Local Government Code, the publication of a revised legal framework for Disability Certification Centres, the plan to address water scarcity, and the bill on legal migration.

He also mentioned that the 30 reforms concern, among others: new tax reductions for citizens and businesses presented at the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF), a new increase in the minimum wage, implementation of the Digital Work Card in the public sector, completion of upgrades to 156 health centres and 80 hospitals, completion of the Land Registry, upgrades to railway transport and civil aviation security systems, and completion of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, among others.
