Vroutsis and Stournaras to meet Troika on Wednesday

Following a meeting chaired by the prime minister, which included the government vice president and Foreign minister, Stournaras said on Wednesday, "There is nothing that cannot be bridged, we are trying to build bridges across our differences."

Yiannis Stournaras and Labour Minister Yiannis Vroutsis are expected to meet again this evening with the troika representatives, at the Finance ministry. Along with the pending issues so far - OECD toolcase application, recapitalisation of banks, distribution of 2013 primary surplus and the mobility scheme - the two sides also disagreed on regulations in an upcoming taxation draft law that affect the surplus value tax on real estate and the framework for fines according to ANA-MPA

In terms of property surplus value taxation, the troika wants no exemptions while the ministry is requesting one for individuals who have held onto their property for over 25 years. According to a high-level Finance ministry source, if no agreement is reached on the issue, the government will set the law unilaterally.
