Not a word about German reparations from Joachim Gauck

The German President didn’t want to say something more! In an interview with Kathimerini in the occasion of his visit to Greece, the Federal President of Germany, Joachim Gauck, said that his country will only undertake the "moral debt" avoiding to talk about the financial debt from the atrocities of the Germans in WWII.

Gauck merely expressed his deep sorrow for what has been done by the Nazis against Greece. For the German compensation, he did not want to say absolutely nothing. “We won’t to deny, neither relativise something” he said . Namely, Gkaouk gave us his deep sorrow and assumed the moral debt!

More specifically, answering to a question about the responsibilities of his country, the German President replied: "I don’t want to discuss here the question of law about reparations, but let me say: We don’t want to deny nor to relativise the moral duty. This year we remember the beginning of World War II 75 years ago, which was started the National Socialist Germany. At my official visit, I want to bow respectfully before the victims murdered by the Germans”.

He admitted all the atrocities by saying: “Greece experienced a occupation particularly violent during the Second World War. This war left deep wounds in Greece. Greek Jews were killed systematically, non-Jews Greeks were shot, hanged, killed brutally, many Greeks died of starvation”, but without getting to the point.

Gauck with masterly dodged responsibilities saying that the German public is not sufficiently informed about the crimes against the Greek and therefore, as he said, an awareness campaign through exhibitions is necessary for the exchanges of views in the science of history, through a file of testimonies from the season for the oppressed and all resistance.

Rather that put up the issue of reparations, Germany wants o historical thematic conferences to describe the pain experienced by our country in World War II at... philosophical discussions. The terms of Gauck demonstrates the way in which the Germans face our country as they think they appeal to lower natives. It is of course only natural that in the same way Greece could express its "deep sorrow" for the loans which the Germans claim that we received from the markets and mechanisms of EU, avoid to pay from now on and only take on the "moral debt"!
