Civil servants protest in central Athens
A rally was organized by Greek civil servants union ADEDY on Wednesday.
Doctors, school guards and teachers, local government staffers and other civil servants prostested against layoffs in the public sector in central Athens.
Streets surrounding Syntagma Square were closed on Wednesdsay morning, as public sector employees protested against the government's plans concerning transfers and dismissals.
Public hospitals were operating on minimums staff throughout the day.
