Surprise - reshuffle by Antonis Samaras
The Prime Minister decided to proceed to a structural reshuffle, after the agreement with the troika. The announcement of the Reformation may take place the week after Easter.
It is estimated that until that time, the primary surplus will have been formalized and certified by Eurostat, the troika will be replaced by a new control mechanism from Brussels and there will be some "encouraging" statements from Berlin which will mention the possibility of an extension for the public debt.
The reshuffle, a month before the elections, will be a demonstration of self confidence of the government, which will pass a message of stability and optimism about the outcome of the elections to the EU Parliament and the municipal and regional elections.
According to information and assessments, Mr. Samaras is about to surprise many people with his options, since:
- Stavros Papastavrou, consultant on confidential matters of Mr. Samaras, will be appointed Minister of Finance in order to signal that the economy now enters a new phase. Mr. Stournaras will leave the Ministry and assumes Commissioner of the European Commission, maybe as an successor of Mr. Oli Rennes with the assent of Mr. Soimple .
Mr. Mavraganis is possible to maintain his position in the Ministry of Finance, while Mr. Staikouras will move to the Ministry of Labor. Probably the Ministry of Finance will have two new deputy ministers with prevalent Mr. K. Skreka (MP Trikala) and Mr. A.Vesyropoulo (MP Imathias).
-For the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Mr. Samara's selection would be Mr. A. Loverdos in an attempt to increase the parliamentary majority and the index of government stability.
-Mr. Chryssochoidis will return to the familiar to him ministry of Public Order, although he would like to remain in the Ministry of Infrastructure, Transport and Networks. In such a case, this ministry will be taken Mr. Voridis.
-Mr. Dendias will probably move to the Ministry of Culture although Mrs. Olga Kefalogianni is a strong candidate also. Deputy Minister for Sports will probably be Mr. B. Kikilia.
-The Ministry of Environment will remain to the hands of Mr. Maniati and Mr. Papageorgiou will be upgraded to the post of Deputy Minister.
-Unshakable is regarded the duo of Mitsotakis and E. Christophilopoulou to the Ministry of Administrative Reform, but Mr. Tsaftaris will be probably removed from the Ministry of Rural Development and Food and Mr. Sahinidis and Mr. Koukoulopoulos are candidates for the position.
Mr. Samaras directed to mark a new beginning, with the entry to government of MPs as Mr. Stamenitis, Mrs Asimakopoulou (if she chooses to not be a candidate MEP) but also with the addition of extra-parliamentary executives.
