Occupation of a base in Belbek by Russians

The Russian forces had surrounded the base for hours and had given an ultimatum to about 150 Ukrainians to surrender. The latter refused and several hours after the expiry of the ultimatum (14.30 GMT), Russians stormed in the base and put it under their control.

According to Reuters, the Ukrainians unarmed soldiers were lined up along the base, having turned their backs to the Russians. Information refers to shots, a throwing of a grenade and one wounded, while the commander Yuli Mamchur was invited by the Russians for “conversations” and before leaving he said that the soldiers “did not know if I will return alive from the talks”. It should be noted that journalists were at the point.
