Social dividend: guaranteed for homeless, uniformed and uninsured
In particular , during the two-hour meeting at the General Accounting Office, with the participation of Deputy Minister of Finance Christos Staikouras, the deputy minister of Labour Basil Kegeroglou, the general secretary of the Public Revenue Haris Theocharis, Christos Protopapas and George Koutroumani, in accordance reportedly, they decided about the three categories of beneficiaries.
These are:
- Homeless, through the appropriate bodies, 20 million Euros for housing needs and feeding.
- Uniformed, will be available about 35 million in totals, given only by income criteria. The allowance of 500 Euros will be given once to approximately 68,000 to 70,000 uniformed.
- Uninsured, will be allocated 20 million Euros to cover of their healthcare, for one year period.
According to participants of the meeting, the total fund (excluding the uniformed) for the "social dividend" will be around 480 million, but is likely to keep a specific reserve of about 20 million Euros for new unemployed of 2013 (data from the General Secretariat for Information Systems about the income earned in 2012).
Altogether, including uniformed, the "social dividend" shall apply in 800,000 to 1,000,000 people.
The "standard" bonus is 500 Euros at a minimum, which will be staggered according to the family situation and could reach 800 Euros for families with two children or 1,000 Euros for large families. The overall family income criterion (other than assets) is expected to start from 4000 Euros / year and rising up to 10000 to 11000 Euros / year for families with two children.
It is considered certain that for the three classes of beneficiaries which were chosen during the current meeting, there will be provision in the bill agreed with troika, which will be tabled in parliament on Thursday or Friday at the latest.
The other categories, it is possible to be mentioned to a reference and then to a Joint Ministerial Decision (JMD), which will be issued afterwards. However, for everyone, as reported by government agents, the bonus will be given in May.
