Three dead in incidents between Islamists and police in Cairo
The journalist Magenta Ashraf, who worked in the private newspaper Al Dustour, fell dead with a bullet in the head while she was covering the demonstration in the Ain Shams district, north of Cairo, according to a security source, which added that in the same clashes two other people were killed. The newspaper confirmed on its website the death of the journalist.
Supporters of the former president Mohamed Morsi marched in many cities in Egypt, following the announcement that Sisi, whom they consider responsible for the overthrow of the Islamist President, is a candidate in the presidential elections. Before the death of Ashraf, the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) announced that from the start of the uprising that led to the overthrow of Hosni Mubarak, in early 2011, nine journalists have been killed in Egypt.
