SYRIZA leader visits Crete
Tsipras said voters should not accept that their choice lay between himself and Prime Minister Antonis Samaras, noting that the "real" dilemma was between "Greece and Merkel" according to ana-mpa
"We deserve our dignity, we react to the selling-off of our country, we break the chain of the subjugation of the peoples of southern Europe to German dominance, we throw off desperation and dismay," he said. According to Tsipras, the government was using threats and fear to take Greece back to a standard of living marked by low wages, labour insecurity and a high public debt that will have reached 200 pct of GDP in two years time.
He also promised to oppose attempts to store chemical weapons from the Syrian conflict in Mediterranean waters south of Crete.
While in Rethymno, Tsipras visited the local hospital and was briefed on its problems, which he described as massive, and the more general problems faced by the healthcare sector in the area. He asked to be kept up to date on this issue, promising to provide immediate solutions to the area's healthcare problems if voted into power.
Tsipras continued his tour by visiting Spili, where he promised 'zero amnesty' for those that had wronged Greece and pledged to bring them before justice. He said events in Greece in the last four years aimed to allow the "selling off" of the country's wealth and to abolish social entitlements won over decades in Greece and throughout Europe.
