You cannot imagine what this capsule is! (video + photos)

As much as it seems unbelievable, this bizarre capsule is none other than a bicycle, designed to speed up to 145 kilometers (about 90 miles) per hour!

The enhanced with carbon fiber ARION1 was designed by students at the University of Liverpool that are trying to break the speed record for pedal means of transport. "The project isn't so simple, but after six months we are in very good point" 22 year old Ben Hogan, one of the initiators of the idea, said adding: "We understand what we need to do in order to achieve our goal and we are ready for testing".

Students say that anyone would want to wander the city streets with this bike, in which is encased a shell of carbon fiber that enables you to see through a camera and a computer monitor. They even claim that it is 40 times more aerodynamic than a supercar Bugatti Veyron, in a horizontal position, just a few inches off the ground! The prototype is expected to be ready in a year and will be presented at World Human Power Speed Challenge, in the Nevada desert, next September.

"This is an exciting project, the cutting edge of vehicle engineering" Philippa Oldham of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering commented on the capsule, concluding: "The team needs to make sure that everything is perfect, from aerodynamics to the wheel size. It's extremely difficult for a vehicle traveling under human power to travel 90 miles / hour, but with the right engineering approach it's possible". It should be noted that the existing speed record for pedal vehicle is 83.1 miles / hour and is owned by a Dutch team from 2012.
