Teachers union rejects minister's proposal for strike 'moratorium'

The high school teachers union federation OLME on Friday,31/10/2014, categorically rejected a proposed "moratorium" on strike action during religious and national holiday proposed by Education Minister Andreas Loverdos, as well as during the minister's visits to schools outside Attica.

"We will not negotiate with anyone about when, where or how we will mobilise," the trade unionists said during a meeting with Loverdos on Friday, 31/10/2014.

The minister said he had made the proposal in the wake of the measures taken during the school parades on the October 28 national holiday, to avoid similar obstacles to anniversary celebrations during the upcoming March 25 holiday marking Greece's independence day and other events.
