There is water, but is it drinkable?

If you happen to find yourself in Kato Melissi in Xylokastro and see the residents to fill plastic containers with water from a public tap in the old National Road, do not think that are crazy. Not to rush to characterize those who buy bottled water as wasteful or hypochondriac. The water there is not drinkable; and not only there.

If you find yourself in Assos in Corinth, beware. For years, residents complain that the water is unsuitable. And the experts, of course, do not say anything different.

What happens in the prefecture of Corinthia concerning the drinking water exceeds all imagination. The handling of the situation by the state's side is as muddy as is the water which often runs from the taps in the homes of residents of the area. How many years must pass, in order the inhabitants of certain areas of the county would not have to pay for water carriers, or not to buy bottled water or not to injure their backs to carry water from public taps to home? And how many more years will have to pass until the institutional agents in Corinthia to realize that water is not a subject of politicking culture, it is not a ball for partisan opponents but is a matter of life. If not for them, for residents is certain.

If the water from your tap was cloudy, you could use it to wash your face or would you choose bottled water? The answer is as simple as the question.

A few months ago, became known to residents of Loutraki in Perachora that the quantities of drinking water in the village Schinos are not sufficient to meet the needs of water and therefore will be used boreholes with elevated chloride ions and so the tap water would not be suitable for drinking.

In addition, laboratory tests in the water of houses in the wider region revealed that drinking water had a high concentration of total and hexavalent chromium. These substances are carcinogenic. This was caused, according to experts because the water came from contaminated wells. But until then, residents in Chino drank water with toxic substances, although they consistently pay municipality tax....

A few days ago a resident in Assos in Corinth complained to newsbomb.gr that: "For three years I live in Assos in Corinth. The water in the village is unsuitable for drinking and the supply pipes have carcinogenic asbestos. The cost of water supply is unsustainable and the risks are very great. The washing machines are destroyed as well as the sanitary, from water salts. Please help us if you can". Seeking the path of truth, we realized that this is not the first complaint. For six years the citizens in Assos, are shouting about it.

Late last September the City Council met in Corinth in order to rule (?) about whether the residents have ... drinking water! In contrast to what was reported, with what they experience those who live in a village of Corinth, for a few months or permanently, the local lords strongly argued that the water quality is assured.
If so, then the people who are protesting should have lost ... their minds. It is not explained, otherwise.

And since there is drinking water for all, then why the municipalities of the region are giving so much money to pay water-wagons for the Municipalities and Communities of the Prefecture of Corinthia like Zevgolatio, Kokoni, Vrahati, Stimagka etc.?

Water containers. A picture from the past .... Right? But maybe the local lords have this in mind, when they say that there is potable and pure water for all in the region?
