US State Dept calls on Turkey to stop new drilling in Cyprus' EEZ
The US State Department called on Turkey to end its plans to drill in the Cyprus Republic's exclusive economic zone (EEZ), following a new Navtex issued by Turkey that is valid from August 18 to September 15.
A State Department spokesperson expressed concern about Turkey's actions, in response to a question by the "Hellas Journal" site on Wednesday.
The United States continue to be deeply concerned about Turkey's continued research for natural resources in the waters of Cyprus, and these provocations raise tension in the region, the spokesperson said, calling Turkey to put an end to such activities.
