Tsipras: Comprehensive national strategy against Turkey's aggresiveness

Main opposition SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras referred to "an extremely crucial period for Greece, for the region, for Cyprus and for the Greek-Turkish relations opening his speech on Wednesday during the debate on the ratification of Greece's agreements on the maritime borders with Italy and Egypt.

Of course, we must be united but this is not enough, he said adding that "a clear national strategy is imperative."

Referring to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis' speech, he said that he wished that "even now at these crucial moments he would discern the elements of a comprehensive national strategy against a neighbour that escalates the aggressive strategy."

"It is our duty to speak the language of truth in terms of national issues. For us was and is clear that a national strategy could have only two specific targets. First the effective defence of Greece's sovereign rights and secondly the restart of the exploratory deliberations with Turkey aiming at resolving our differences on the continental shelf with recourse to The Hague if necessary and if deliberations fail."
