Firefighting forces still battling blaze at ridge of Mt. Othris, eastern Fthiotis
Firefighting forces are trying to contain the fire burning on the ridge of Mt. Othris, near Loggitsi village at eastern Fthiotis since late Monday afternoon, the Fire Brigade said in an update.

Two Canadair and two Pezetel aircraft with one helicopter are airborne water-bombing the fire, during high local winds and very high temperatures. Considerable forces on the ground are also battling the blaze.
"It is a very difficult fire, at an area that does not allow for full deployment of air and ground forces," said Fthiotis Region Vice-Governor Thanassis Karakantzas.
Although the fire is currently far from villages and homes, there is a risk it might spread to a forest area towards Magnesia prefecture in the north and northeast, as well as in the west, where there are many fire pockets, added Karakantzas.
