Marinakis: The government will continue to improve wages and increase employment

The improvement in wages, the increase in full-time employment and the doubling of the rate of increase of employees compared to 2023 confirm the dynamic improvement of the Greek economy, government spokesperon Pavlos Marinakis said during a press briefing on Thursday.

"We still have some way to go in order to converge with the European average but the progress that has been made is bearing fruit and the government will continue efforts to improve wages and increase employment," Marinakis noted, citing the Ergani data.

He also referred to six new initiatives to further reduce private debt presented by National Economy and Finance Minister Kostis Hatzidakis, as well as the new digital platform mysafetyplan.gov.gr announced by the Ministry of Digital Governance.

The platform will inform and guide citizens in cases of earthquakes and other natural disasters and was implemented in collaboration with the National Observatory of Athens. Through this initiative, citizens can locate safe temporary gathering places throughout Greece.

The Online Safe Spaces Map is designed in such a way as to ensure:

● Accessibility

● Real-time information and

● Gradual upgrading.

Marinakis also said that on the occasion of World Cancer Day, Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis announced the operation of the Integrated Care System for Oncology and Hematology Patients.

Special mention was made of the new special business subsidy programme, amounting to 10,726,800.00 euros, to find employment for the jobless in areas affected by the phasing out of lignite coal, as well as to the Hellenic Police report on domestic violence, presented by the Minister of Citizen Protection Michalis Chrysochoidis.
