Androulakis: PASOK to request preliminary investigation committee into Tempi train tragedy

PASOK leader Nikos Androulakis announced in an interview with OREN that on Monday, PASOK will submit a request for the establishment of a preliminary investigation committee into the Tempi train accident. He stressed that the political leadership of the Transport Ministry had been informed about the risks to the railway network and the existing safety issues, but, as Androulakis stated, it nevertheless allowed thousands of people to travel on the Athens–Thessaloniki line, putting their lives and physical integrity at risk.

“So, the situation they allowed to persist led to the tragedy—and therefore to the loss of lives. This is our reasoning, and on that basis we will file a preliminary inquiry against the political figures,” Androulakis said.
