Marinakis: The government's target is a 950-euro minimum wage and an average wage of 1,500€ by 2027
"A 25-year record in new jobs was recorded in the latest report of the ERGANI information system," said government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis, in his briefing to the press on Thursday. "More specifically, in the period January-June 2025, job announcements amounted to 1,760,733 positions and departures reached 1,420,121. Consequently, the balance of salaried employment hours for the first half of 2025 is positive, standing at 340,572 new jobs, which is the highest first-half performance since 2001. The progress is not only quantitative but also qualitative. Now, three out of four employees are employed in full-time positions, an increase of 10 points from 2019, when part-time positions were significantly more numerous," added Marinakis.
He made special reference to the digital work card and said that overall, a fairer and better paid labour market is being created, with a target minimum wage of 950 euros and an average wage of 1,500 euros by 2027.
"This government, led by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, has succeeded in giving new momentum to the labour market, creating half a million new jobs and increasing citizens' incomes so that they can cope with the objectively increased costs that have been created due to successive global crises, attracting investments that create well-paid jobs, but also trying to bring back all the human resources that left our country during the years of crisis," he stressed.
