"Following what the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, stated on Monday, I would like to express, on behalf of the Prime Minister and the Greek government, our absolute support and identification with the pursuit of the common interests of Greece and Cyprus," government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis said during a press briefing on Monday.

"In response to recent reports, I clarify, representing Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the Greek government, that our relationship with Cyprus will continue to be strong and will not be disrupted because of a specific project," he stressed.

He added that "with regard to the progress of the electricity interconnection project, which will benefit Cyprus, first and foremost, in terms of energy, this is linked to the resolution of economic and technical issues and to not questioning its viability."
