SYRIZA reacts on Mitsotakis' statement regarding developments in Venezuela

The following statement was issued by the SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance Press Office, regarding the post by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, on the developments in Venezuela:

"The statement of the Prime Minister of Greece is unthinkable. According to Mitsotakis, 'this is not the time to comment on the legality of recent actions.' However, International Law concerns us all in every corner of the planet. Greece does not have the luxury of this hypocrisy. Those who flatter Trump and support or relativize the invasion of Venezuela are not only politically cynical. They are dangerous.

Because the law of the strong, when imposed against international law, violates the rights of countries and peoples. It is precisely this logic that fuels and legitimizes Erdogan's aggression towards Greece and Cyprus. Our country must defend International Law as a whole, consistently and not a la carte. Especially as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, it has an increased responsibility to clearly condemn the logic of military imposition."
