Yiannis Moralis presented his ballot
The event was attended by the Minister of Education, Constantinos Arvanitopoulos that is elected in Piraeus, Members of New Democracy, Gerasimos Giakoumatos and Lefteris Avgenakis. Also, the member of Independent Greeks Panagiotis Melas, the independent members of the Parliament, Andreas Loverdos and Vyron Polydoras, President of the Union of Greek Ship-owners Theodoros Veniamin, the former member and Secretary of PASOK Dimitris Karidis, former prefect of Piraeus Yiannis Michas, former Minister of Shipping and member of PASOK Yannis Diamantidis and the former Minister Andreas Andrianopoulos. Other "big names" in Morali's conjunction are the owner and president of FC Olympiakos Evangelos Marinakis, entrepreneur Petros Kokkalis, Irini Ntaifa, daughter of the recently deceased former president of Olympiakos, Stavros Ntaifas, and veteran goalkeeper Antonis Nikopolidis. Other known names are those of former mayor Piraeus Christos Agrapidis, the water polo champion Stavroula Antonakou, the fencing champion Vaso Vougiouka, federal swimming coach Nikos Gemelos, the manager of Olympiakos volleyball team Nikos Mantouvalos and singer Poppy Asteriadi.
Moralis in his speech spoke once again in favor of preserving the public character of the harbor, as the main pillar for the development of the city, and demanded institutional and decisive widening participation in municipal administration of OLP to the respective standards of respective European ports. "The utilization of the port should address the many and not the few" he said and added that "we won't sell the port of our hearts". He also added that Piraeus should be independent tourist destination and an international maritime center, and that when he takes the reins of the municipality he will secure funding from European programs, building on the property of the municipality, redevelopment of the coastal front of the premises of OLP to the border of Piraeus with Drapetsona and creating green spaces and recreation. He also noted that his first goal will be to tackle unemployment looking towards the sea, which means growth as he said.
