Scuffles between riot police, students at Polytechnic

Students opened the main gate but were rebuffed by police.

After leaving the Polytechnic area, the student unions merged with the rest of a march on Patission Avenue in downtown Athens to commemorate the uprise of the students on November 17, 1973 that led to the downfall of the Greek dictatorship.

They charged that riot police had made extensive use of chemicals, flashbangs and violence on those trying to get in the university.
