Police turn back 939 vehicles attempting to leave Athens without proper documents

The number of vehicles exiting and entering Athens via the Elefsina and Afidnes tolls has dropped significantly in the last 24 hours, while 939 were forced to turn back because they lacked the documents needed to travel, the Hellenic Police announced on Good Friday, April 30.

A total of 15,552 vehicles left the capital via Elefsina between 6:00 on Thursday and 6:00 on Good Friday, while 10,969 travelled toward the city and 888 vehicles were turned back, while six were also fined. On the Athens-Lamia highway, 17,727 vehicles left the city and 14,110 entered, while 51 vehicles were turned back. On the previous day, 16,400 vehicles left via Elefsina and 13,840 came into the city, while 18,809 exited via Afidnes and 16,823 entered going the other way.
