Defence Minister on tour of military bases: Greece the safest country in the region

Greece is the safest country in the region and theories about so-called military confrontations belong to the realm of imagination, National Defence Minister Panos Kammenos said in a tweet on Friday.

Kammenos is on a tour of Greek Armed Forces bases on the islands of Thassos, Samothrace, Agios Efstratios and Skyros to exchange Christmas and New Year's wishes with the staff.

In his tweet he said, "Theories about so-called hot incidents are groundless and do not serve Greece. We are the safest country in the region which respects international law and rules of good neighbourhood. Happy New Year."
