Greek stocks end higher
Greek stocks ended higher in the Athens Stock Exchange on Friday, recovering after a seven-day decline which pushed the general index of the market 7.81 pct lower. The index rose 1.01 pct to end at 603.84 points, for a net loss of 0.78 pct in the week. The index is down 4.19 pct in December, losing 24.74 pct so far this year.
The Large Cap index rose 1.19 pct and the Mid Cap index ended 1.03 pct higher. Turnover was 27.157 million euros in volume of 17,462,850 shares.
Eurobank (9.21 pct), National Bank (5.12 pct), Viohalco (4.92 pct) and Piraeus Bank (3.85 pct) scored big gains among blue chip stocks, while PPC (3.19 pct), Jumbo (2.03 pct) and Sarantis (1.68 pct) suffered losses. Among market sectors, Raw Materials (6.78 pct), Banks (3.72 pct) and Food (3.10 pct) were top gainers, while Personal Products (1.65 pct) and Commerce (1.54 pct) suffered losses. Eurobank and Alpha Bank were the most heavily traded securities of the day. Broadly, advancers led decliners by 54 to 35 with another 31 issues unchanged. Unibios (12.33 pct), Audiovisual (9.64 pct) and Eurobank (9.21 pct) were top gainers, while Haidemenos (21.21 pct), Ilyda (12.96 pct) and Nakas (10 pct) were top losers.
