There needs to be a change of stance on Turkey's part, EU source tells ANA
Turkish provocativeness is among the issues that will be discussed at the next meeting of European Union foreign ministers on Monday.
Talking to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA) on Friday, a European diplomatic source said that "the EU is not seeking an escalation" and noted that "we must evaluate everything and especially everything that Turkey has done in the Eastern Mediterranean and in Libya."
"Turkey is an important partner but there are issues," the source added, noting that EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell is expected to brief the foreign ministers regarding his recent trip to Ankara and his contacts with Turkish officials.
"We need to see a change of stance on Turkey's part, especially on issues in the Eastern Mediterranean and Libya where we are seeing tension rising," the European diplomatic source said, adding that the EU defends its principles, values and interests.
