Fire raging in an area of forest in the Lavrio region
Deputy Minister of Civil Protection and Crisis Management, Nikos Hardalias, is rushing to Lavrio, where a forest fire which broke out at noon in the area of Pounta-Zeza is in progress.
According to information from the Fire Department, the fire is far from residential areas.
Twenty firefighters with 9 vehicles and 2 groups of pedestrians are operating to the spot and are operating aided by two aircraft and two helicopters.
The fire brigade recommended the precautionary evacuation of residents from four settlements in southeast Attica where a forest fire is raging in the Pounta-Zeza area in Lavrio, including those of Agrileza, Kamariza, Agios Gerasimos and Sounio.
The fire brigade also recommended the evacuation, as a precaution, of children at a summer camp near where a forest fire broke out, in the Pounta-Zeza area in Lavrio, Attica.
Deputy Civil Protection and Crises Management Minister Nikos Hardalias is in the area, along with the response team from the general secretariat for civil protection.
In the meantime, the fire-fighting force sent to put out the flames has been reinforced and now numbers 49 fire men and 19 fire engines, two teams of fire-fighters on the ground and two aircraft and four helicopters from the air.
