Greek trade deficit shrank 24 pct in September
The Greek trade deficit shrank by 24 pct in September as a decline in the value of imports surpassed that of exports during the month, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Friday.
More specifically, the value of import-arrivals totaled 4.037 billion euros in September from 4.807 billion in the same month last year, for a decline of 16 pct (excluding oil products the value of imports rose 1.8 pct while excluding oil products and ships imports rose 1.7 pct).
The value of export-deliveries totaled 2.557 billion euros in September, down 10.6 pct from September 2019 (excluding oil products the value of exports rose 6.8 pct while excluding oil products and ships exports rose 6.8 pct).
The trade deficit was 1.480 billion euros in September, from 1.947 billion in September 2019, for a decline of 24 pct (excluding oil products the deficit fell 4.2 pct while excluding oil products and ships the deficit fell 4.3 pct).
In the nine-month period from January to September, the value of imports totaled 35.854 billion euros, down 14.6 pct from the same period in 2019 (excluding oil products imports fell 5.9 pct while excluding oil products and ships imports fell 5.2 pct). The value of exportss totaled 22.348 billion euros in the nine-month period, down 11.7 pct from 2019 (excluding oil products exports rose 1.5 pct while excluding oil products and ships exports increased 1.5 pct).
The trade deficit in the January-September period totaled 13.506 billion euros, down 19 pct from the corresponding period in 2019 (excluding oil products the deficit fell 15.1 pct while excluding oil products and ships the deficit fell 13.8 pct).
