Deputy citizen protection minister visits Albania, discusses closer cooperation
Deputy Citizen Protection Minister Lefteris Economou embarked on a two-day visit to Albania on Monday and Tuesday.

The visit, which took place in the context of the presidency of the South East European Cooperation Process (SEECP), currently held by Greece, will focus on ways to strengthen cooperation on a security level between Greece and Albania, as well as the Balkans in general.

"The building of a stable and secure environment both on a national and in a broader Balkan setting first of all envisages the sincere and mutual cooperation between Greece and Albania," stated Economou.

On Monday, Economou will meet with the Archbishop of Tirana and all Albania Anastasios and hold talks with representatives of the ethnic Greeks minority in Albania on issues concerning the minority. In the evening, he will attend a dinner hosted in his honour by the local branch of the Democratic Union of the Greek Minority – OMONOIA political party in Himare.

On Tuesday, Economou will meet with his Albanian counterpart Andi Mahila and will attend a dinner hosted by the Albanian side.
