KINAL: Any step contributing to stability in the wider region is good

Opposition Movement for Change (KINAL), in an announcement on Monday regarding Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis' meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Istanbul the previous day, described the meeting as positive but remaining cautious.

KINAL: Any step contributing to stability in the wider region is good

"We believe that any step contributing to stability in the wider region, as well as to a de-escalation of the tension that prevailed in the previous period, is good. But a prerequisite for the steps to build a credible dialogue is that Erdogan give up illegal and irrational theories, such as that of the "Blue Homeland" or the demilitarisation of the Greek islands," KINAL underlined.

In the same announcement, KINAL referred to the war in Ukraine and the new situation that has arisen, noting that "the imperial revisionist views of leaders such as Vladimir Putin should be targeted by the international community. Humanity is living in a new reality after Russia's illegal and barbarous invasion of Ukraine. A war in the heart of Europe with thousands of dead and millions of refugees is rapidly changing the countries' priorities."
