FM Dendias attending Dubrovnik Forum on Saturday (ADDS)
Greek Foreign Affairs Minister Nikos Dendias is attending the international 'Dubrovnik Forum - A quest for balance in a world disrupted', in Croatia on Saturday.
Dendias will speak at the 'Predictability: High in demand, low in supply' discussion panel.
Deputy Prime Minister & Interior Minister of Croatia Davor Božinović and Finnish Foreign Affairs Minister Pekka Haavisto are also scheduled to speak at said panel.
Talks are expected to focus on regional cooperation and human development in the Mediterranean, and on the consequences of climate change and pollution in the region.
In statements ahead of the forum's start, Dendias said that he will "formulate the permanent Greek positions on the future of the Western Balkans, the need for their rapid accession prospect, and the enormous problems that are being created in Bosnia-Herzegovina."
"I will also express the Greek views on the absolute non-acceptance of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the enormous difficulties it creates in our societies, as well as on the need for stability and the application of International Law and the International Law of the Sea in the Eastern Mediterranean," he added.
In the sidelines of the forum, Dendias met with Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) Secretary General Nasser Kamel.
Dendias said that they discussed how to best present Greece's positions on the environment at the upcoming 27th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 27) to the UNFCCC, that will take place in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, in November 7-18, 2022.
Also, added Dendias, they discussed Greece's progress in organizing the international 'Our Ocean Conference' in 2024, which is an initiative of former US State Secretary and current U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, John Kerry.
The Dubrovnik Forum, Dendias pointed out, has an environmental dimension, "that is the effort to protect the environment and especially the Mediterranean. The sea that surrounds us all, the sea that is the special characteristic of our homeland, Greece."
"So we are very interested in showing the environmental dimension of our initiatives. Also, I remind you that Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has a special sensitivity for the issues of plastics in the seas, and the need to rid our seas of this enormous pollution."
Dendias will also be meeting with his Croatian counterpart Gordan Grlić Radman.
