Tsipras tours Fokida
Main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance leader Alexis Tsipras on Friday toured the region of Fokida. Initially, he visited the fire-stricken ancient olive grove of Amfissa and, in talks with locals, was told that delays on the part of the authorities were responsible for the wildfire raging out of control and burning a large part of the historic olive grove in the Delphian landscape.
Later, Tsipras toured the Amfissa market and talked with customers and shop owners about the situation in the market, the dramatic drop in turnover and of citizens' purchasing power.
After the tour, Tsipras delivered a speech at an Amfissa square where he sternly attacked the government for the high prices and the electricity bills, noting that "unfortunately in the last three years the government took care to benefit the few but the majority of Greek society is facing great difficulties, perhaps greater than ever before, even in the difficult days of the memoranda.
