Intensity in the prisons of Crete
The competent authorities are in a state of complete readiness, as other services in Crete after the brutal murder of prison officer from an Albanian lifer.
In Chania, Alikarnassos and Neapoli, the competent authorities have been on alert since the previous days, because of the risk of protests and strong opposition from detainees in prisons in light of legislative measures promoted for the new prison (maximum security) and tighter conditions of detention, leaves etc. for the most dangerous convicts serving long sentences to be converted there.
It's noted that prison officials continue to suggest that the prisoners are too many because of the lack of infrastructure. The Federation believes that 378 former city police transferred (through mobility) in prisons aren't enough, since it takes at least 550 because of the large vacancies.
