The government has drawn red lines regarding auctions, says Skourletis

The explanations given by the government on Thursday regarding the protection provided for primary homes revealed the red lines it has drawn in the negotiations with the institutions regarding auctions to cover debts, Interior Minister Panos Skourletis said on Friday, talking to the Athens Macedonian News Agency radio "Praktoreio 104.9FM".

As long as the assurances for the protection of homes with an assessed value lower than 300,000 euros held true, Skourletis noted, "then I do not believe that there will be a problem that will disrupt society's relationship with the government."

On the negotiations with the institutions for completing the third review of the Greek programme, he warned that the "other side" must not be expected to show "sensitivities" and stressed that the Greek government was the one that must "set the boundaries."

"These people are extreme technocrats and believe that first and foremost, the equation must add up on paper, regardless of the repercussions on society. Consequently, the Greek government is the one that must set the limits," he said.
