Experts conduct initial inspection on oil tanker 'Agia Zoni II'

Two appointed experts conducted an initial inspection on the wreck of oil tanker "Agia Zoni II" which was successfully raised from the seabed near Salamina after it sank on September 10.

The vessel was towed to the shipyards in Ambelakia, Salamina, as part of an investigation into the reasons that caused it to sink. According to Athens-Macedonian News Agency sources, the experts said the ship must be cleaned and pulled to an area where it will be possible to take a better look at the ship.

The experts was selected by a Piraeus investigating judge and the Hellenic Bureau for Marine Casualties Investigation (HBMCI).
