Notaries to postpone Wednesday's foreclosure auctions in Attica due to Erdogan visit

The Notary Associations of Athens, Piraeus, Aegean and the Dodecanese said they will postpone Wednesday's foreclosure auctions in Attica due to the visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Athens and the increased security measures that will be involved.

The association said it informed the ministry of Citizen Protection, the police and Supreme Court prosecutor Xeni Dimitriou.

"All scheduled auctions for December 6 will not be held in the prefecture of the First-Instance courts of Athens and Piraeus, due to the increased security measures in place for the official visit of Turkish President [...] Erdogan," the association said. "Such measures may make it extremely difficult for notaries and other legitimate bidders to reach the prefecture courts in time and thus create serious and insurmountable problems in conducting the auctions."

"Furthermore, it is important to note that the state's commitment to the smooth completion of the auctions and the safety of notaries in the performance of their duties is now explicit,” it added.
