Greek stocks continue moving higher

Greek stocks continued moving higher for the second day in a row in the Athens Stock Exchange on Friday, remaining on a positive trend so far in 2019. The general index of the market rose 1.42 pct to end at 615.59 points, with the Large Cap index rising 1.67 pct and the Mid Cap index ending 0.08 pct higher. Turnover was a low 26.7 million euros in volume of 12,495,021 shares.

Bank shares were mixed with National Bank and Alpha Bank moving higher, while Eurobank ended lower and Piraeus Bank was unchanged. Among blue chip stocks, GEK Terna (1.16 pct), Ellaktor (1.67 pct) and Terna Energy (0.53 pct) ended lower, while OPAP (1.53 pct), OTE (5.37 pct) scored big gains.

Eurobank and Alpha Bank were the most heavily traded securities of the day. Broadly, advancers led decliners by 67 to 33 with another 26 issues unchanged. Alumil (21.21 pct) and AEGEK (18.92 pct) were top gainers, while Elgeka (6.47 pct) and Flexopack (6.29 pct) were top losers.
