Economou: Support measures exceed one billion euros and benefit 3.2 million citizens
The government on Thursday detailed the measures for the support of citizens and businesses against the international crisis.
The measures exceed one billion euros and benefit 3.2 million citizens, government spokesperson Yiannis Economou said.
The support measures are focused on three axes and concern:
A significant increase in the subsidy for electricity, the support of vulnerable households and businesses and a subsidy for the price of gasoline.
"With seriousness and responsibility we do everything possible to stand by the side of society. We support Greek society with actions and not with words or with simplistic approaches," Economou underlined.
The announcements are currently being made by the Ministers of Finance, Christos Staikouras, Environment and Energy, Kostas Skrekas, Rural Development and Food, George Georgantas and Alternate Finance Minister, Theodoros Skylakakis.
Economou also stressed that "the measures amount to more than one billion euros and are targeted at more than 3.2 million of our fellow citizens," while he pointed out that almost 4.0 billion euros have been allocated so far to support households.
