The baseline for the beneficiaries of the social dividend

Following today's meeting of the economic team with members of PASOK, the specific amount of income will be "on a scale of equivalence", that will escalate (along the lines of family allowances) with a factor 1 for the unmarried, with a factor of 1/3 for the spouse and for a factor of 1/6 for each child. It will be formed at 10,000 euros for a family with two children, according to information from ANA.

Regarding the amount of the benefit, which will be administered in May once, this may range from 500 euros to 1,000 euros. The maximum amount of 1,000 euros will be given to large families (four and more children) or a family with three children and an unemployed mother. For a family of four it's estimated that the allowance will be about 800 euros.

For assets, the baseline under discussion relates to total real estate from 50,000 euros (50,000 euros for a single person and 100,000 euros for married couples) to 250,000 euros. According to information available, there will be general changes in the bill which will present an overall layout and specify the indicative categories of beneficiaries, as longtime unemployed people and self-employed out of a job. The bill will be referring to a Joint Ministerial Decision, which will be issued when the government reaches its income and assets criteria.

However, the responsible express concern about how they will be able to identify the truly weak, from large populations, such as the self-employed and farmers. The first, on the basis of the General Secretariat for Information Systems, appear mostly to denote a very low income and a term of employment might be considered, while farmers were taxed up to last year based on the imputed (very low) income.
