Lianokladi-Lamia train derails, two women injured
A local passenger train derailed while on route to Lamia from Lianokladi at around 5:45 on Friday morning after one of its carriages slammed into an old warehouse, injuring two women.
The accident occurred because, for unknown reasons, the tracks had been switched at the entrance to Lamia station, leading the train into the warehouse.
Fortunately, the train had few passengers on board because it was still early.
Fire men cut away railings to extricate the two injured women, who were taken to Lamia hospital. The train line between Lianokladi, Lamia and Stylida is operating as normal.
