Employment flows negative in January

The Greek labour market recorded a negative balance of new hirings/dismissals in January.
A monthly report by the Ergani IT system recording way employment flows in the country, showed that new hirings totaled 157,141 in January while dismissals and retirements totaled 179,474, leaving a negative balance of 22,333 job positions in the month.
In announcement, the Labour ministry attributed this development to seasonal factors and underlined that traditionally January records a negative balance in 18 out of the last 19 years since 2001.
