The ruling majority late on Tuesday passed an amendment related to increased control over NGOs and which establishes a special grant to municipalities that host refugee and migrant facilities.
The amendment was included in the civil protection restructuring bill.
Main opposition SYRIZA abstained with a vote of "present", while all other parties - KINAL, Communist Party of Greece (KKE), Elliniki Lysi and MeRA25 - voted against it.
The new law provides among others:
- The establishment of a register of NGO members and staff,
- the introduction of a special grant for municipalities where refugee accommodation structures operate,
- redefining the responsibilities of the National Coordinator for the Refugee-Migration problem.
