Sailing boat with 59 migrants and refugees led to port in Sfakia

A sailing boat with 59 migrants and refugees on board (47 men, eight women and four children) that was adrift in the waters of Finikas Bay, Crete has been escorted to the port of Chora, Sfakia by a coast guard vessel, from where those on board will be taken to Chania, where they will be hosted, it was announced on Friday.

A search in the surrounding region led to the arrest of two foreign nationals aged 27 and 44, who were identified by the rescued migrants as the sailing boat's captains and as alleged migrant traffickers.
