SYRIZA MPs call for better inspections after fatal electrocution accident in Evia

SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance MPs expressed their deep regret and condolences over the death by electrocution of three men doing independent maintenance work for the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator in Evia on Thursday.

Main opposition MPs Mariliza Xenogiannakopoulou and Sokratis Famellos, responsible for energy and environment at the party, raised the issue of safety conditions and blamed the Labor ministry for lack of appropriate inspections at the site of HEDNO, a subsidiary of the Public Power Corporation.

They also called for hiring more HEDNO personnel, as the three men who died and a fourth one who is hospitalized worked as part of an outsourced project crew.
