Pope Francis meets with migrants at Lesvos island center
Pope Francis, who is on a three-day official visit to Greece as of Saturday, flew to Lesvos on Sunday to meet with migrants at the Reception and Identification Center on the island.
Accompanying the head of the Catholic Church and leader of the Vatican state to Mavrovouni (Kara Tepe) is Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou. Welcoming them on the island was Migration & Asylum Minister Notis Mitarachi.
The pope was expected to return to Athens on a 12:15 flight, before officiating at a Divine Liturgy at the Athens Concert Hall, scheduled for 16:45.
