Transport Min Karamanlis: TRAINOSE to give 1,000 euros compensation to Athens-Thessaloniki line pass

Infrastructure and Transport Minister Kostas Karamanlis on Tuesday contacted the management of TRAINOSE (of the Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane Group-FSI group) and asked that the company pay 1,000 euros compensation to the passengers of Monday's stranded Athens-Thessaloniki line trains for the ordeal they suffered, a ministry announcement said.

TRAINOSE agreed to pay 1,000 euros to each passenger of the train routes 885 Kalambaka-Athens, Intercity 54 Athens-Thessaloniki, Intercity 55 Thessaloniki -Athens and Intercity 57 Thessaloniki-Athens, the announcement said.

Additionally, at Karamanlis' order a committee was set up to investigate the unacceptable situation in Attiki Odos.

"The huge ordeal suffered by thousands of our compatriots demands that responsibilities be attributed and penalties be imposed, and this will be done," the minister said.
